Belgii Pars Septentrionalis Communi Nomine vulgo Hollandia.. This is a very rare, original, colored copper engraved map of the Netherlands and some colonies (including New York) by Peter Schenk, from around 1700. Title: Belgii pars Septentrionalis communi nomine vulgo Hollandia nuneupata Continens Statum Potentissimae. Area or Location: Netherlands and some colonies. Cartographer: Peter Schenk (1660 - 1711).

Status (Perfect/ Very good/ Good/ Fair/ Fair/ Poor): In very good state of preservation. Remarks: This extremely rare and particularly elaborately designed map shows the Netherlands and two other areas under Dutch influence. The main map extends from Emden in the north-east via Düsseldorf in the south-east to Ghent in the south-west. The three small inset maps show on the one hand the colony "Nieuw Neederland" with a panorama of "New Amsterdam" (today New York City), on the other hand the "East Indies" with a panorama of Batavia (today Jakarta, Indonesia) and also the area the Limburg area in the south of the Netherlands. The map is supplemented by the seven coats of arms of the Republic of the Seven United Provinces and a mileage indicator. This exceptionally rare and very elaborate map by Peter Schenk shows the Republic of the Seven United Netherlands as well as two of it's colonies. "Nieuw Neederland" with a view of New Amsterdam (today New York City) and the "East Indies" with a view of Batavia (today Jakarta, Indonesia).
