It was originally realized by Marianne Starck in what was referred to as her'Tribal Negro' series of ceramic vessels, which had distinctly Afr ic an, stylized geo-abstract graphic iconography, featuring sgraffito incised sidewalls, with the charcoal black/deep sepia brown kiln-baked matte, natural ceramic clay color juxtaposed alongside raised, viscous, glossy and very reflective burnt sienna and chalky white glazed triangular forms, that immediately remind the viewer of hand decorated Afr ic an wooden battle shields or hand carved and hand decorated wooden, ceremonial and battle face masks. The vase has nearly unblemished surfaces and doesn't suffer any hairline cracks, ceramic loss or stains. Very Good to Excellent overall vintage condition.
