A very historical piece "The Death Shot" print published by Currier & Ives, NYC. For reference this artwork is. Listed in the Library of Congress. The hand tinting on this print is fantastic- the colours are rich and the print very carefully coloured & tinted.
The colour quality is far superior to the images listed in the library of congress, in my opinion. The print itself is approx 13.5" x 11". The frame measures approx 17" x 14.35". This is a very old piece.
I would describe it as in "rustic" condition. The print could easily be spruced up by reframing. The paper itself is in tact and there is no visible tears or rips from within the frame. There are signs of age- some toning to the paper/ staining and spots within the glass of the frame. It needs to be cleaned- please note the frame appears dirty in areas yet In attempt to preserve this historical piece & knowing it's worth- I have never personally removed this print from the frame- however it would be easy to do so by prying back the nails along the frame. There are minor areas of dry mold & The back panel cardboard is warped from age and likely isn't the original framing. The frame could use some cleaning up- but I'd like to save that for someone confident to do just that. Otherwise I would recommend visiting a paper conservationist / Art Conservationist.
